Western & Atlantic Railroad train engineer Johnnie Gray (Buster Keaton) loves two things: his train “The General” and his beloved Annabelle Lee (Marion Mack). With the outbreak of the Civil War, Johnnie enlists in the Confederate Army only to be told he’s more valuable as an engineer. But Annabelle just takes him for a coward. When a group of Union spies take his train hostage, Johnnie must fight them off to save his two loves.
