African Diaspora

About the Series

FilmScene highlights the work of African American filmmakers and films and artists of the African diaspora through year-round screenings and events curated in collaboration with members of the Iowa City community.

FilmScene’s African Diaspora program strives to present these works to diverse and thoughtful audiences, to reframe audiences experiences and relationships with Black cinema, and introduce the work of influential, as well as emerging, filmmakers of color.
