Tell your own animated stories with FilmScene! At Animation Camp, campers imagine and create their own animations, totally from scratch. Each day, campers learn the key principles of animation and explore the styles of 2D paper, 3D object, Pixilation, Claymation, and replacement animation and then apply these lessons by making their own videos! Instructors will introduce campers to the powerful Stop Motion Pro software, working hands-on with iPads and a wide range of materials from paper to clay.
Students must register for the grade they are entering in 2025-2026 (please read the full schedule before registering your student):
Grades 5 & 6: July 21-25 / July 28-August 1 / August 18-22
Grades 3 & 4: July 7-11 / July 14-18
Please make sure to register your child for the appropriate age group. Children in grades 3 & 4 cannot attend 5th/6th grade camp. Additionally, when registering, make sure you use an email address that you will check regularly during the summer. Important camp information is shared via email.

CAMP DETAILS
Up to 20 campers per week-long session may register for in-person camp. Camp will be held at FilmScene on the Ped Mall, located at 118 E. College in Iowa City. All technology and supplies included for in-person camp. Each day includes stretching, snack breaks and games. Two snacks and lunches are provided.
Campers can share their work at our Friday “end of camp” showcase, with their work appearing on the big screen.
TUITION $430
Tuition may be paid in full at time of registration, or in two installments ($230 deposit and $200 balance). The remaining balance must be paid by the Friday before your camper’s first day of camp. For example, if they begin camp on July 7th, balance must be completed by July 4th. After registration deposit is paid, before your camp begins, please contact Angie at angie@icfilmscene.org or 319-519-6422 to pay your balance.

HEALTH AND SAFETY
FilmScene is a mask friendly space and we encourage vaccinations as an effective public health policy. Masks are now at the discretion of students and their families, though they are "Encouraged" for patrons and employees at high risk, with recent exposure to illness, or experiencing mild symptoms.
CANCELLATION POLICY
A deposit is required to secure registration. This deposit/fee is refundable until one month prior to the start date of camp. After that point, deposits are nonrefundable. For example, if camp begins on July 7th, the final day to request a refund is June 7th. Cancellations due to illness will be refunded less the camp deposit. No credits or refunds will be given for cancellations occurring within two business days of the start date of the class; similarly, no credits or refunds will be given once camp sessions begin. If for whatever reason FilmScene must cancel a camp session at any point, full refunds will be given to all registrants.
